2007 Route
A new route is being designed for the 2007 Edinburgh Marathon. The plans include taking in all the best sights of the 2006 marathon (Princes Street, Edinburgh Castle, Scots Monument, Holyrood Palace, New Parliament Building) without the challenging climb back to the finish in Holyrood Park. This should make it flatter and faster than the previous four marathons. It will also include some amazingly scenic costal routes and a magnificent stately home. Bealach-na-Ba or Bealach nam Bo (Pass of the Cattle) is the UK’s biggest road climb at 2053ft (626m) from sea level in just 6mls (10k). It is set in a fabulous unspoilt landscape with outstanding views of the sea and the hills. The Applecross Peninsula is renowned as a gem in Scotland’s crown of natural wonders.

Saab Salomon Hellrunner offers trail running at its toughest and most enjoyable. For 2006 the Devil Strikes Back with not one but TWO gruelling Hellrunner challenges. Both will be between 10-12 miles of off-road running...tough, twisting trails...wetlands and bogs...and, of course the Hills of Hell. The Finish will bring redemption...but only to successful Hellrunners.
